CONT4301 – Church and Religion in Norwegian Society.
Course content
Some perspectives on the most important religious and political institutions in Norway – in integration and conflict - today and in contemporary history.
Learning outcome
A certain capacity to understand some specific aspects of the Norwegian society, to perceive the Norwegian society as developed from history and as a part and partner among other countries and cultures.
Admission

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Bachelor degree with area of emphasis in theology or Christian studies, 80 credits or equivalent.
Teaching
Seminars and excursions to institutions in Oslo (Church administration, Parliament and more).
Obligatory activities: Attendance (minimum 80%), a thesis (about 2000 words) based on material from the compendium and discussions in the seminar, and a report (400-800 words) from one of the excursions.
Examination
45 minutes oral exam with one hour preparation time

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.

Resit an examination
Students who due to illness or other valid reason of absence were unable to sit for their final exams may apply for participation in make-up exams. Make-up exams are arranged either later in the same semester or early in the semester following the exam in question. Documentation of valid reasons for absence from the regular exam must be submitted upon application to participate in make-up exams.
