Welcome
In this very first information meeting, we would like to welcome you as a new master's student to the Department of Geosciences. You get to meet your new fellow students and will get information about the programme and also the buddy week.
From approx. 14:00 the buddies will take over for a more social programme (will be published later).
Are you unable to attend the info meeting?
Students who cannot meet must send an email to the information meeting to studieinfo@geo.uio.no before the meeting and notify us to keep their admission to the master's program. Students failing to do this will have their admission withdrawn without any further notice.
Information from the meeting will be put available on this page after the meeting and students who are unable to attend (and have given notice of their absence prior to the first lecture) must familiarize themselves with the information on their own.
The final date of arrival
Students that are not present at the information meeting on 14 August must, by Friday 6 September 2024, drop by the student administration (room 111) and confirm their arrival by personal attendance. If you are not able to do so, your MSc admission will be cancelled. Remember to bring a national ID card with a photo.

Program for the day (tentative)
Information meeting
From 10:00 to 11:30:
- Welcome by the Head of Department, Professor Bernd Etzelmüller.
- Information from the Student administration by student adviser, Karl Johan Strand Ullavik
- Information from the Natural Science Library by Academic Librarian, Edina Pozer.
Lunch
From ca. 11:45 to 12:15:
- Free lunch and soft drinks in the hall (entrance). Go outside and enjoy your meal!
Meeting within the program options
From ca. 12:30:
You will meet the program coordinator for your program option in separate meetings, where you will have the chance to discuss the course of study, courses, etc with the coordinator of your program. The meeting takes place with the other program option students and is not one-to-one.

Buddy programme
Once the formal programme is over, the buddy coordinators will take over and have their own buddy programme for the new master's students.
